The eighth-inch ruler has eight divisions that are broken down into units.
The divisions below are in order, and the lowest common denominator calculated for the fractions that were not at their lowest form.
- 1/8
- 2/8 = 1/4
- 3/8
- 4/8 = 1/2
- 5/8
- 6/8 = 3/4
- 7/8
- 8/8 = 1
An English ruler measurement can be calculated as a fraction or decimal. Below is a list of the eighth-inch units that are calculated to the decimal equivalency for each fraction.
- 1/8 = 0.125
- 1/4 = 0.25
- 3/8 = 0.375
- 1/2 = 0.5
- 5/8 = 0.625
- 3/4 = 0.75
- 7/8 = 0.875
- 1 = 1.0
Measure-Matic has four English rulers so all of the basic units are studied with both fractions and decimals.
Even though the rulers are at a level of difficulty that most would understand, it would be in anyone’s best interest to do a quick review of all the units with both fractions and decimals.
